“Blackface” incident causes outrage

Administrators from a Montreal business school are expressing regret after new students painted themselves in blackface makeup for frosh week celebrations, according to the CBC.

U of T ranks third in the world

The University of Toronto is the third best university in the world outside of the U.S., according to the Newsweek College Rankings Report 2011 released Sept. 15.

Warning for students at risk

The University of Windsor has adopted an early warning system that notifies first-year students who are at risk of failing, according to the CBC.

The online program operates through a system where instructors register grades. Academic advisors will then be contacted to provide counseling to those not succeeding in their classes.

The warning system comes with the largest incoming class in the university’s history, according to the CBC.  

Bishop’s football player in coma

A Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) football player is in a medically induced coma after sufferring a head injury during a game Sept. 10, according to the CBC.

Kevin Kwasny, a third-year member of the Bishop’s University football squad, suffered a subdural hematoma, or a brain haemorrhage, after a game against the Concordia Stingers.
