The Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) is seeking reimbursement for the cancelled Rick Ross concert scheduled for April 9, 2013, according to CUSA president Alexander Golovko.

CUSA purchased the tickets in bulk from promotions company Urban Jamz.

Golovko said CUSA wants to be refunded or compensated by an alternative concert or something of equal value.

“We are currently in legal negotiations with Urban Jamz concerning cost repayment options so it is difficult to comment on specifics,” CUSA vice-president (finance) Folarin Odunayo said via email.

Director of Urban Jamz and former CUSA president Obed Okyere declined to comment on how or whether CUSA will be reimbursed.

After protests over the alleged promotion of sexual violence in Ross’ lyrics, and the withdrawal of CUSA’s support for the concert in an April 5 statement, Urban Jamz cancelled the concert citing “security concerns” on their Twitter feed.
