The Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) launched its new entrepreneurial program Sept. 17 at its offices inside 1125@Carleton on the fourth floor of the Human Computer Interaction building.

The program, called Hatch, is under the direction of Carleton students Fahd Alhattab and Renee Tavares.

Hatch will assist students with their ideas for startup businesses as well as those who have already started businesses or are just generally interested in entrepreneurship.

The program will run throughout the university year starting at the beginning of October when the program has its pitch night, which the directors are calling “Raven’s Nest.”

“CBC has Dragon’s Den. ABC has Shark Tank. Hatch has Raven’s Nest,” Alhattab said to a large crowd at their opening night.

CUSA president Folarin Odunayo was on hand to say a few words and promote the launch of the major project.

“It feels great,” Odunayo said before the launch. “This is an idea we’ve had brewing for 14 months now. I was adamant that we were only going to do this unless we can we do it right. Right now, it finally feels right.”
