Campus Wi-Fi, phone lines, and various Carleton websites were knocked down for approximately two hours March 15 due to a network outage, according to the campus safety and Carleton Twitter accounts.

Campus safety’s emergency phone line was offline for about 45 minutes, said shift manager Chris Moy.

The emergency phone line is a voice-over Internet protocol system connected to the IT network, he said.

When the system is not working, Moy said campus safety uses an analog phone line as a backup, which has a different phone number.

That service was in use during the outage at 613-520-9034.

The Carleton Twitter account began receiving reports of network problems at about 3:30 p.m. and about two hours later stated that services were back online.
