Two of the three Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) referendum questions failed during a vote held online March 25 and 26.

A question to increase the CUSA bursary fund passed by a large margin. The fund is currently composed of CUSA executive salaries and a $25,000 donation from StudentCare, the health and dental plan broker. Students will now contribute $1 per semester, or $2 per year, to the fund.

The results are as follows, according to the CUSA elections office:

Question 1: “Do you support the enhancement of the Carleton University Students’ Association health and dental plan coverage at a cost of $14 per term?”

No: 2272
Yes: 2196
Abstain: 29

Question 2: “Due to the significant growth of the number of clubs and societies on campus, are you in favour of increasing the clubs and societies levy by $3.30?”

No: 2314
Yes: 2160
Abstain: 23

Question 3: “Are you in favour of contributing $1 per semester to the Carleton University Students’ Association bursary fund, which helps students in financial need?”

Yes: 3154
No: 1335
Abstain: 9
