At approximately 4:20 p.m. power went out at various buildings at Carleton, according to Darryl Boyce, Carleton assistant vice-president (facilities management and planning).

Buildings in the academic quad, Athletics, the University Centre, and various sections of the tunnels across campus were affected by the outage. Food service businesses in the University Centre were closed down for safety precautions, and some professors dismissed class early.

According to Hydro Ottawa’s outage centre map, outages also happened across Old Ottawa East, the Glebe, and Alta Vista. Boyce said Hydro Ottawa is mobilizing  to investigate the situation. Boyce said he does not know exactly how many buildings were affected, but a “high percentage” of buildings did not have power.

Power returned on campus at approximately 5:25 p.m.
