The Student Union Building referendum has failed, with 64.9 per cent of students voting No and 35.1 per cent of students voting Yes. Over 41 per cent of students voted, marking a high voter turnout.

The question asked students if they wanted future students to pay $40 per semester, tied to inflation, for the cost of an extension to the current University Centre.

The results were 3,557 YES votes and 6,589 NO votes.

A total of 10,601 votes were cast out of a possible 25,611 voters. Only 455 voters abstained.

Only 15 per cent voter turnout was needed for the results to count, according to referendum bylaws.
