Fall orientation concert headliners Down With Webster cancelled their show on Sept. 5 due to a family emergency, according to Student Experience Office (SEO) manager Jeremy Brzozowski.
The band will be replaced by Canadian singer Lights instead. She will perform on Sept. 13, a week later than Down With Webster’s scheduled appearance at orientation.
“We found out yesterday morning that there was the possibility, and then yesterday it came to fruition. So we began to look at what we could do to provide the best quality experience in the shortest amount of time, and I certainly think we hit it out of the ballpark,” Brzozowski said.
Brzozowski said they had originally explored booking Lights for the fall orientation performance, but it was impossible because of a scheduling conflict.
Brzozowski said they estimate a loss of $143, as a result of reprinting tickets. He added that all technical elements, including lighting, safety, and staging, were rescheduled at no additional cost.
“We have been very fortunate that we have been able to reschedule everything from the electrical inspection right down to the stage with no extra incurred costs,” Brzozowski said.
Brzozowski said students who participated in Fall Orientation can pick up concert wristbands from the SEO office starting Sept. 7. There will be 200 tickets avalaible for upper-year students.
The cost of tickets for the Lights performance should be between $20-$25, according to Brzozowski. The cost of the Down With Webster tickets was $20 for upper-year students. Students who purchased guest tickets can inquire for a refund until Sept. 30.
