Anastasia Lettieri, a returning undergraduate student governor, has been elected president of the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA).

Results released on April 1 also show all candidates for CUSA councillor were voted in to council and students voted to remove the Millennium Promise ancillary fee.

Lettieri and all councillor candidates will serve as president of CUSA from May 1 to April 31, 2023. Lettieri won 28.5 per cent of student’s votes, second only to a vote of no confidence that earned 30.4 per cent of ballots cast.

Although issued on March 23, the results were released on April 1. Lettieri’s term begins the same day the incorporation’s new bylaws come into effect on May 1.

CUSA’s electoral code does not specify how to manage a vote of no confidence. However, the election results document states if no confidence wins less than half of all votes, votes are redistributed “according to voter preferences” until a candidate has more than 50 per cent of all votes.

Here are the results for the first round of voting:

After four rounds of vote redistribution, Lettieri won with 54.2 per cent of the votes. Votes for no confidence are only valid for the first round. Here are the results after four rounds of redistribution:

Only 13.1 per cent of eligible students voted in this election. That means 4.2 per cent of eligible students have no confidence in CUSA, and 3.9 per cent voted Lettieri to represent them on council.

Students voted to remove the six dollar Millennium Promise ancillary fee, with 76.6 per cent in favour.

Twenty candidates were voted to become CUSA councillor, leaving 10 spots open on council. Here are the results for the CUSA councillor elections:
