Election season for the Rideau River Residence Association (RRRA) is currently underway.

The nomination period has taken place from March 12-13, and election campaigning will occur on March 15, and from March 18-21.

RRRA president Jacob Howell said the elections are taking place later this year to avoid clash with the Board of Governors (BoG) elections, which happened March 4 and 5.

RRRA council passed a motion to accept its writ of election for the 2019 elections at a council meeting on Feb. 26.

A motion to change the “election period” to “nomination period” was also passed after students raised concerns about the former being confusing.

Nada Ibrahim, the chief electoral officer (CEO) for the 2019 Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) elections, will also be working as the CEO for the RRRA elections this year.

Voting will happen on March 22.
