Name: Riley Evans
Program/year:
Second-year political science and communications; law minor
Position running for:
Public affairs councillor
Why are you running for CUSA council?

I want to promote and improve awareness about all the great services CUSA offers and foster a culture of creating safer spaces at Carleton to give everyone the best opportunity to succeed with their education.
What do you think makes you a good candidate?

First, my commitment to serving students. I’ve volunteered actively with four service centres in the past year. Second, my willingness to stand up for injustice. I’ve written five Charlatan opinion pieces in the past year on subjects from campus security to the No Means No campaign.
What are two things you hope to achieve if elected?

1. I want to bring more attention to all the amazing work done by our service centres with year-round promotion.
1. I want to put some power back into the Discrimination on Campus Policy. CUSA needs to take a stand against racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, rape culture, and misogyny. To be neutral is to abandon those who need us the most.
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I want to go into a career in radio.
