Ottawa Police arrested a man on campus on Oct. 11 for being drunk in a public place, according to Allan Burns, director of the Department of University Safety.

Burns said members of the community contacted Campus Safety around 3 p.m. to report a suspicious man in Alumni Park, across from Robertson Hall.

He said the Ottawa Police took the man away after arresting him.

Burns could not provide any description of the man. He was not a member of the Carleton community, according to Burns.

In Ontario, being drunk in a public place is an offence under the Liquor License Act.

People arrested can be fined and detained by police until sober.
