The Charlatan spoke to Steve Renaud about his top moment this season in a new segment about student-athletes’ favourite plays.

Steve Renaud, shortstop, baseball:

It was one of the last games of the regular season for us, and we needed to win to make sure we were in the playoffs, because [University of Ottawa] was right on our tail.

There was some bad blood and bad talking between the team and coaches. Basically, we came in having to win.

We had a good lead already and the bases were loaded. I came in and we were playing at a smaller park so I was just thinking I’d hit the ball as far as I could. I got a first pitch fast ball right where I wanted it, hit it a mile, and I knew it was a home run right away.
