The Carleton Ravens men’s soccer team treated their fans and alumni to a thrashing Oct. 13 as they dominated the Trent Excalibur at Ravens’ Field 10-0.

The Ravens didn’t take long as star striker Andrew Latty opened the scoring in the eighth minute off a great assist from Joey Kewin.

Latty scored two more goals in the 15th and 22nd minute, adding to his record-breaking scoring season.

However, Latty wasn’t the only Carleton player with a great performance on Saturday. First-year striker Mekonen Lovemore-White also tallied a hat-trick and caused problems for Trent with his speedy play.

With six goals in the first half, 10 in the game and four different players getting on the score sheet, the Ravens gave the fans and alumni plenty to cheer about.

Assistant coach Kwesi Loney was pleased with the result and the momentum the win will give the Ravens with the playoffs looming.

“You never expect to go into a game and score 10 goals, but it’s always good to see,” Loney said. “When guys can score some goals going into the playoffs, it builds a bit of confidence and gets them ready for games.”

Captain Sam McHugh also spoke highly of the team’s morale.

“Going into the playoffs, this was our second-last game of the regular season, and we know to host a playoff game we need to get the win and that’s important,” McHugh said. “But to score 10 goals . . . is really nice just to get some momentum going into the playoffs.”

The Ravens currently sit second in the Ontario University Athletics East division, but will have an opportunity to move into first in their final regular season game against Royal Military College at Ravens’ Field on Oct. 19.
