Name: John Mesman

Program/year: Biochemistry and biotechnology, second year

Position running for: Science councillor

1. Why are you running for CUSA council?

Though I belong to the Faculty of Science, I feel as though I am more interested in politics than chopping up plants, examining enzymes or making Tylenol derivatives in the lab. Student politics, though dirty and frustrating, interests me greatly.

2. What do you think makes you a good candidate?

I think my experience as committee chairs has given me a respect for proper order at council and my past experience as a two-time RRRA councillor has made me well-spoken. Adding my respect for science students, makes me a perfect candidate.

3. What are two things you hope to achieve if elected?

One: I promise that I will never support the use of student money for legal fees or pointless campaigns, we work too hard for our money to be squandered so easily.

Two: I hope that CUSA can begin to lobby the administration officially in the hope of implementing a fall reading week. I think science students need it.

4. What’s one fun fact about yourself?

I pay for my own education and I value students’ hard-earned money.
