Carleton University’s hopes for a big win against the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees at the annual Panda game were dashed Saturday when no points were scored by the Ravens after the first quarter.
Fans had hoped 2022 would be the end of a three-year losing streak, and hundreds of Carleton University and University of Ottawa students attended the game. It was the second time the event took place in person since it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.
The Ravens had a promising start against the Gee-Gees, putting up seven points in the first quarter, but added no points to the score in the second, third or fourth quarter. The points gained in the first quarter did little to deflect the huge 37-7 defeat against the uOttawa Gee-Gees.
Despite fans being asked to not storm the field at the end of the game, many uOttawa fans, and some Carleton fans, continued the tradition.
