The Charlatan is Carleton University’s independent newspaper. Run by students for students, the paper has been providing the Carleton community with news and entertainment for more than 75 years. 

Job Description: Graphics assistant

The Charlatan graphics assistant is a creative honorarium position. The graphics assistant has a close relationship with the editorial staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing occasional graphics requests as necessary;
  • Designing special social media posts as necessary;
  • Assisting the graphics editor with special visual projects as necessary;
  • Other reasonable duties as required.

Characteristics of a strong applicant include:

  • Experience in illustration;
  • Experience in graphic design;
  • Knowledge of Canva and/or Photoshop;
  • Creative;
  • Organized;
  • Resourceful;
  • Collaborative;
  • Positive attitude.

Job Type:

  • Honorarium

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, flexible hours

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year creating visual content (preferred)
  • At least one (1) year of involvement in the Carleton community (preferred)

Location:

  • Ottawa, Ont.
