Love it or hate it, every full-time student at Carleton pays for and receives OC Transpo’s U-Pass, which offers unlimited bus and O-Train access for the fall and winter terms.
There are four bus routes that run through Carleton’s campus. Bus routes 4 downtown, 4 Hurdman, 7 Carleton and the O-Train run seven days a week while the 111 Hurdman runs Monday to Friday.
4 Downtown/Centre-ville: The quickest option to get downtown, this route goes along Bronson Avenue before turning onto Bank Street, on its way to Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa. If you are looking to escape the city altogether you will find the Greyhound bus terminal at the Kent/Arlington stop.
4 Hurdman: Travels to the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre and eventually Hurdman Station.
7 Carleton/St. Laurent: The 7 runs between Carleton’s campus and St. Laurent station.
Along the way, you’ll find Haven Books near the Sunnyside/Seneca stop, as well as Lansdowne Park at the Bank/Lansdowne Park stop. The 7 also makes stops along Bank Street through the Glebe neighbourhood and into downtown.
Route 111 Hurdman: On weekdays, the 111 provides service between Carleton and Baseline station, near Algonquin College. It passes through Prince of Wales and crosses the Rideau River.
The O-Train: Ottawa’s light-rail service runs right through the centre of Carleton’s campus. You can expect the O-Train to stop at Carleton roughly every 15 minutes weekdays and Saturdays. Taking the O-Train to Greenboro station is the fastest way to South Keys Shopping Centre. If you are heading in the opposite direction, the O-Train ends at Bayview Station, just west of downtown.
Looking for a ride outside of Ontario? Your Carleton U-Pass even gives you access to Gatineau’s STO bus service from its stop at Rideau Centre. For other routes and stops, check out OC Transpo’s detailed trip planner on their website.
