A female picketer had her foot run over by a car this morning at the Colonel By Drive entrance to Carleton.

She said she was at a standstill with the car and then the car pushed through, driving over her foot.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) have opened an investigation, an OPS spokesman said.

The car left the scene but he said the OPS have a license plate number to follow up on.

The picketer was left with a scratch on her knee and was not sent to hospital.

The OPS had no details on the incident.

Picketing began outside Carleton for OPSEU 404, representing Carleton’s campus safety workers, this morning after workers walked off the job at 12:01 a.m. on Mar. 10.

Carleton’s teaching assistants and contract instructors’ union, CUPE 4600, reached tentative agreements with the university March 10, and are required to go to work, but are going to be supporting OPSEU 404 where they can on the picket line, according to Tabatha Armstrong, teaching assistant bargainer.
