The world is on fire. Well, at least it seems that way.

As we slink into our homesunsure of what the last few weeks of the semester will look like, when breaking news about COVID-19 will cease to flood our feeds, or what the future holdsit might seem all too easy to acquiesce to the dire straits our world is in.

Anxiety is gripping us all, with good reason, and it’s not showing any sign of letting up any time soon.

Self-imposed quarantine may come with a number of personal challenges for many, but—without seeming too flippant—it can also be a time to indulge in mindless, escapist fun.

This week in the Charlatan is a review of the latest season of The Bachelor.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, it’s not a bad thing to take the time to think about something else, however momentarily. This includes The Bachelor, one of the most famously inconsequential and mind-numbing shows out there.

This is not to say that taking COVID-19 seriously isn’t extremely important. However, it’s easy to succumb to the doom and gloom which seems so inescapable right now.

So turn on The Bachelor, or whatever non-coronavirus related media suits your fancy. We’ve all earned a temporary break from reality.
