A reimbursement for tickets purchased by the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) for the cancelled Rick Ross concert in April 2013 is being finalized with the ticket provider, CUSA president Alexander Golovko said.
Golovko said the legal work between CUSA and Urban Jamz, the company that provided tickets to CUSA and promoted the concert, will hopefully be finished at a meeting scheduled for Aug. 30.
Urban Jamz is run by former CUSA president Obed Okyere.
Okyere could not be reached for comment.
“Once it’s finalized we will probably be issuing some form of statement,” Golovko said.
Rick Ross was announced as the headliner for the annual Pandamonium concert, but the concert was cancelled April 5, 2013 after protests about the song “U.O.E.N.O” featuring the rapper.
Critics argued certain lyrics in the song promoted date rape.
Urban Jamz stated on Twitter the reason for the cancellation was “security concerns” due to the protests.
