Ravens women’s soccer team bounces back
The Carleton Ravens women’s soccer team rebounded from back-to-back losses in a stunning show of offence against the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Paladins Sept. 11, winning 6-1 in Kingston, Ont.
“We bounced back really well against obviously a different caliber of opponents. No disrespect to them,” said head coach Alex McNutt.
Meeting the rookies: Megan Sequeira
The Charlatan (TC): What made you decide to come to Carleton and play soccer for the Ravens?
Megan Sequeira (MS): I loved the campus and the atmosphere of Carleton. I decided to play for the Ravens because it was always a goal of mine to play college level soccer, and Carleton just seemed so right.
TC: What is your favourite experience so far playing soccer?
Athletics dept. launches contest
Carleton’s department of recreation and athletics has created a new contest this year for students to coincide with the varsity season, according to athletics marketing manager Romy Nehme.
“Get QRazy For Free Tuition” runs until February to help raise school spirit for the entire season.
At every game, there will be QR codes students can scan with their smartphone, or write down the URL if they have a regular phone, and they will accumulate points based on attendance and their enthusiasm as fans.
Ravens recruit invited to Maple Leafs camp
“I just watch hockey for the sake of watching hockey, because it’s a great sport, but growing up . . . it was always the Leafs,” said Matt Stanisz, an incoming Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team recruit.
It seems appropriate, then, that the 21-year-old defenceman will be attending the Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp and tournament on a tryout.
Gaels hand Ravens first loss of 2011-12
The Carleton Ravens men’s soccer team fell 2-0 to the Queen’s University Gaels in a closely contested game Sept. 7 at Carleton’s Keith Harris Stadium.
