With a federal election set to take place May 2, Carleton University’s political clubs are revving up their campaign activities in support of their respective parties. The Carleton Campus Conservatives are no exception.

Students at Queen’s University have voted to  impeach Rector Nick Day for writing a controversial letter about Israel Apartheid week, although it’s unclear whether he’ll be removed.

Opposition parties and student groups both opposed new student loan measures in the now-defunct 2011 federal budget.

The budget was set to enhance the Canada Student Loans Program, especially for part-time students. Fewer full- and part-time students would face reductions in loan and grant eligibility based on their earnings while in school.

Currently, full-time students who earn more than $50 a week receive less money in student loans. The budget would have allowed students to earn up to $100 a week.

A survey of MBA students at McGill University found that most are in favour of the recent 900 per cent tuition hike in the program.

In May of last year, the university decided to raise tuition for its MBA program from $1,700 to $29,500, despite the vocal opposition of the provincial government and province-wide student groups.

According to the survey released by the McGill MBA Students’ Association (MMSA), 70 per cent of students think the new tuition amount is reasonable.

Students at the University of Regina finally know they will remain members of the Canadian Federation of Students, after waiting nearly three months for the results of an Oct. 28 referendum.

The results were made available to students on March 11.

According to the Canadian University Press, 1,414 students voted to stay in CFS while 1,326 voted to leave.
