The Ottawa Fashion Show (OFS) has cancelled its Fall/Winter 2022 showcase, which was set to take place at the Canadian Museum of History Sept. 24.

OFS creative director David McKenna shared the news on the OFS Instagram Aug. 15. He attributed the cancellation to “several issues” that would prevent the show from being a “positive experience” for those involved.

“I had high hopes for this project initially and still do. I greatly hope for a time when the show may be able to proceed and that the event will be a successful one,” McKenna wrote.

Initially scheduled for March, the event was postponed to September due to the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

OFS was created to highlight Ottawa’s fashion industry and showcase the talent of local fashion designers, models and performing artists.

In the announcement, McKenna thanked supporters and revealed he will be taking a break from OFS.

“My heart hurts for this loss and I will take some time to reevaluate my next steps,” he wrote. “I greatly hope to pick up where I left off so that I can proudly say ‘The Ottawa Fashion Show accomplished more [than] we ever thought possible.’”

At the time of publication, OFS has not provided details for future events or commented on how ticket holders will be refunded.
