Bluesfest 25 has comes to an end. Big name artists such as Snoop Dog, the Backstreet Boys, the Killers and multiple shows cancelled due to extreme weather are just a few things that define Bluesfest’s 25th anniversary. Check out Tim Austen’s photos from the last two days.

The stormy weather meant ice cream truck sales were once again slow.

Many fans will have seen “The festival is currently delaying all shows due to severe weather” message lighting up alert boards across Lebreton Flats during the festival. Many, especially those running Bluesfest 25, may have been unsure about the festival. Weather shutdowns, which occurred on three days of the festival’s ten day run and cancellations by big acts such as Jessie Reyez and Elle King, for non-weather related reasons, likely hindered attendance as fans worried that they weren’t paying for a complete festival experience. Nonetheless, the Bluesfest’s final days were experienced by tens of thousands of loyal music fans. The festival’s management team is definitely now practiced in dealing with extreme or severe weather related issues, and hopefully we can expect them to better prepare for them should or when they happen during a future festival.

When the festival was raining, the crowds moved into the War Museum.

The show closed Sunday night by a 2 hour Backstreet Boys show as part of their DNA world tour. They played fan favourites such as I Wanna Be With You, and I Want It That Way, as well as lesser known songs from their new DNA album, to one of the largest crowds at the festival yet.
