Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Canadian Armed Forces and select dignitaries took part in Remembrance Day celebration at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, Canada. Due to COVID-19 public access was heavily restricted in order to contain the spread of the virus in Ottawa and members of the public. An airshow held in partnership between the Veterans Affairs Canada and The Royal Canadian Legion was originally scheduled to feature three heritage planes that were essential aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during the Second World War, however, was cancelled due to poor weather. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Although COVID-19 forced many Canadians to watch from home, a few dozen locals from Ottawa made their way downtown to watch from a distance. Unfortunately, due to high case numbers, no veterans paraded down the streets of Ottawa and dozens of wreaths were placed in advanced.
