The Charlatan is Carleton University’s independent newspaper. Run by students for students, the paper has been providing the Carleton community with news and entertainment for more than 75 years. 

Job Description: Radio host

The Charlatan radio host is a creative honorarium position. The radio hosts have a close relationship with the editorial staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Curating content for the paper’s weekly radio show on 93.1 CKCU FM during the 2021-22 publishing year;
  • Arranging on-air interviews and segments as needed;
  • Coordinating with section editors for audio content as necessary;
  • Meeting all deadlines set by the editor-in-chief;
  • Other reasonable duties as required.

Characteristics of a strong applicant include:

  • Experience in producing and editing audio;
  • Experience in interviewing sources;
  • Knowledge of journalistic ethics;
  • Creative;
  • Organized;
  • Resourceful;
  • Collaborative;
  • Positive attitude.

  • Monday to Friday, flexible hours

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year experience in audio production and editing (preferred)
  • At least one (1) year of involvement in the Carleton community (preferred)
