Born and raised in the nation’s capital, Zameer always knew he wanted to go to Carleton.
“I promised myself that once I got here, I would make it my goal to get as involved as possible. Growing up, I saw how vibrant the community was and I wanted nothing more than to be a part of it.”
Zameer started with signing up as a facilitator for Carleton’s Fall Orientation program. As an engineering student, he felt participating in the centralized program would help to expand his social horizons and to meet students from a variety of faculties.
“I enjoyed being a Fall Orientation facilitator so much that I continued to be involved with Fall Orientation for two more years. However, this past year I went back to my roots and became a facilitator for EngFrosh.”
Returning to his engineering roots, Zameer sought out opportunities to blend his passion for engineering and Carleton. Soon he obtained the role as one of two Carleton National Engineering Week Outreach Directors. As an Outreach Director, Zameer obtained sponsorships and shared his Carleton stories with prospective high school students in the city.
“I was excited to have the opportunity to not only blend my academic and social interest but to be able to share my passion for our school with future Ravens.”
Zameer’s Raven spirit is reflected in his involvement in the Greek Community. As a brother of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, he has held the positions of vice-president (internal), and vice-president (finance) for the Carleton University Greek Council (CUGC). As an executive of the CUGC, Zameer worked hard to help the Greek community at Carleton grow, while continuing to promote philanthropy, school spirit, and the same sense of community he received from his many experiences on campus.
For Zameer, his Carleton is one that is community focused, engaged, and passionate. Zameer wants to see a fall orientation that is as unique as it is fulfilling, Ravens pride that starts at the home opener and doesn’t stop until the finals, events as diverse as we are!
On January 27th and 28th, vote Zameer Masjedee for vice-president (student life) and his team, Your Carleton!
