Mouths before buildings

This year Carleton students living in residence are paying additional fees to fund a new residence building, yet to be constructed, to lodge more students.

But with the university’s housing department struggling as it is to accommodate the amount of students already living on campus, this is not the best time to build a new residence.

Dive safely, now

Many students have embraced the practice of “dumpster diving” as an alternative to other, more strenuous methods of obtaining food, such as trapping small rodents or harvesting crabapples in the Experimental Farm. Others are drawn to the practice for environmental reasons.

I might not be much of a writer, and I speak a funny English, but I do know a thing or two about firearms.

As an example, stating that a discarded empty brass has been fired at some point in time makes about as much sense as saying that the discarded empty coffee cup used to have coffee in it.
