The petition asking for a referendum on Carleton undergraduate students’ membership in the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) has been signed, sealed, and will be delivered Oct. 29.
Organized by fourth-year journalism student Dean Tester, the petition has the signatures of 2,374 students, meeting the requirement of more than 10 per cent of the voting members of CUSA.
The petition must be acknowledged by the national branch of the CFS in order for a referendum to be held in March.
In a move to recognize Carleton students serving in the military and with veteran relatives, the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) passed a motion Oct. 27 to support Remembrance Day ceremonies on campus.
The motion, moved by vice-president (student issues) Nick Bergamini, also urged CUSA executives and council members to attend the ceremonies.
All CUSA businesses, service centres and its front office will now observe a moment of silence at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11.
