Knowing that it would be their last home game until the new year, Carleton’s women’s varsity basketball team came out flying Nov. 21 in the Ravens’ Nest, and never looked back.

Led by second-year guard Alyson Bush, the Ravens defeated the University of Waterloo Warriors 69-48 in the first half of the night’s doubleheader.

“We knew this was our last game here, so for sure that kept us energized,” said Bush, who scored a game-high 21 points. “We came ready to play.”

She wasn’t kidding.

Although putting points on the board may be his main job, Kevin McCleery is becoming Mr. Everything for the Carleton men’s varsity basketball team.

Coming off a 23-point performance in Carleton’s victory over the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks the night before, McCleery once again stole the show in the Ravens’ final home game of the calendar year.

The Carleton men’s varsity hockey team came up short in the Ice house Nov. 21, with a crushing 5-1 loss to the University of Western Ontario Mustangs.

The victory is the 11th straight win for the Mustangs, helping them hold on to their first-place title in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA).

The game itself consisted of wasted power plays and disappointing offensive plays on the Ravens’ part.

The Brock Invitational Nov. 21-22 was an important one for Carleton’s varsity fencing squad. It was our first major road trip of the season and it was also the last competition before the national championships being held at Carleton Nov. 26-29, where several of the team members are competing.

On a barren stage, two characters of little literary significance flip coins and futilely debate the possibility of a coin landing on heads 92 consecutive times – which it has, according to the exasperated losing party.
