Stephanie Brooks is a second-year journalism student running with the “A Better Deal” slate for vice-president (student services).

Brooks said she wants to publicize CUSA services more, and organize and manage more for Carleton students.

“I love organizing,” Brooks said.

Brooks said she wants to bring in an employment centre for students, by students, that would run in conjunction with Career Services. She said this is because she believes students are at school to gain knowledge to build a career, and having the ability to gain job opportunities throughout university is important.

“I believe that attaining this CUSA position will give me the unique opportunity to use the skills that I’ve previously learned in the variety of jobs that I have had," Brooks said, "as well as gaining valuable new ones to represent the Carleton community the best I can.”

Brooks said she volunteers with Rogers television and is interested in a broadcasting or PR career. She said she plans on using this passion in order to help students at Carleton.

If elected, Brooks said one of her goals is to better publicize resources for students. She said she believes first-year students do not know about all of the nine CUSA service centres and how they can help Carleton students.

“We have great resources for students, but we could do a better job at publicizing them.”

Brooks organized Carleton’s Got Talent this year, raising money for the local food bank. She said she has also worked for Elections Canada.
