The faculty at the University of Windsor participated in a one-day strike Sept. 15, which forced the institution to cancel all classes.
The Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA) said they would strike if an agreement was not met by Sept. 14.
Mediations between the university and its faculty were scheduled for Sept. 23.
“Both sides are meeting a mediator today, by tomorrow or the next day we will know if something will break,” Ronald Meng, a director of WUFA who also teaches in the Department of Economics at UWindsor, said.
“No one wants a strike,” Meng said.
Meng said the university held a rotating strike on Sept. 15 and Sept. 18.
However, Meng said the faculty has delayed any more strikes until they hear what happens with the mediations.
According to Meng, it is too early for the university to present any stance regarding the outcome of the negotiations.
WUFA’s press release from Sept. 15 said the university has not participated with WUFA at the bargaining table since June 2014.
