Due to a technical issue with the computer system at the University of Liverpool (UoL), many undergraduate students received incorrect exam marks.
On the morning of July 1, many undergraduates in the final year of their studies were concerned when they received a much-anticipated email containing the wrong information.
Students were exposed to their peers’ personal information, including student numbers and final grades.
“As many of you know, we’ve had a tech problem with the results email that is being fixed urgently..” stated UoL’s Twitter account.
According to BBC News, the university’s vice-chancellor Sir Howard Newby confirmed that the incident occurred because of a “human coding error.”
After receiving numerous complaints from students, the university stopped sending out grades, leaving students in the dark with no results until the end of the day when they resolved the problem.
