The University of Windsor will be teaming up with St. Clair College for the first time to hold a city-wide frosh event Sept. 6.
This event will feature DJ Benny Benassi, whose most famous for his song Satisfaction, and will be free for students.
The cost of the party will be approximately $100,000, according to the CBC.
Downtown bar owners and other sponsors are pitching in with $20,000, and the schools have raised $41,000 in cash sponsorship, according to the president of the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance Andre Capaldi.
The event’s organizers are hoping that it brings more attention to Windsor’s downtown area, according to the Windsor Star.
Capaldi said he believes the event will be beneficial for the City of Windsor because the event is also open to community members.
“This will allow all of us to come together and celebrate our accomplishments,” Capaldi said.
“This is big. We are expecting several thousand to attend. We’re throwing this party not just for the students but for the people of Windsor,” Stephanie Saad, vice-president of the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, told the Windsor Star.
The University of Windsor’s schools of Visual Arts and Music will be taking over the Armouries building, where there are already 1,000 St. Clair College students studying downtown.
