It was announced on Oct. 18 that U Sports, Canada’s national brand of university sport, would be collaborating with Nike as their new primary apparel partner for all U Sports branded programs.

The partnership, which will last for five years, was unveiled during a press conference at Ryerson University. The Toronto school had partnered with the athletic company in the 2016/17 season and is set to expand nationally immediately.

Nike Team will work alongside national team distributor T. Litzen Sports to provide clothing for all “21 national championships, the men’s and women’s hockey all-star teams and Canada delegations competing at the FISU Winter and Summer Universiades,” according to the press release.

Both T. Litzen Sports national sales manager Ryan Denholm and U Sports President and CEO, Graham Brown, highlighted their excitement for the partnership in the release.

“Working with U Sports to enhance the championship experience for its members is a thrill for us,” said Denholm. “To showcase Nike Team performance apparel to the hardworking student-athletes across Canada is an honour.”

“Nike is at the forefront in the world of sports apparel, and their brand is deep-rooted in university sport globally,” said Brown. “They continue to invest in our student-athletes and play a big part in the growth of Canadian sport.”

Starting on Oct. 30, the 2019 U Sports fall championship season begins and fans can look out for Nike’s iconic swoosh logo on all bags and apparel.
