The results of an internal review of the University of Ottawa (U of O)’s men’s hockey team are expected by the end of June.
The review comes after of an allegation of sexual misconduct and the subsequent suspension of the team.
“uOttawa will communicate the outcomes of the internal review once it is completed,” said Patrick Charette, the university’s director of corporate communications.
“Suspending the program was the right decision. The alleged misconduct is not in keeping with the values that are at the heart of athletics and student life on campus,” Charette said.
Charette said the suspension will remain in effect until the completion of the review.
“We feel that it is in the best interests of all concerned to permit, at the very least, the completion of the university’s review before revisiting the decision,” Charette said.
Charette said the suspension does not affect the student athletes academically or their access to U of O services afforded to all students.
The team’s participation in the 2014-15 season depends on the results of the review, according to Charette.
