Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves visited the Raven’s Nest on Oct. 13 to practice for their rematch against the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors beat the Timberwolves at home on Monday but got revenge beating the Raptors 89-87 at the Canadian Tire Centre on Oct. 14.

Students crowded at the doors and windows hoping to catch a glimpse of the NBA team led by Garnett, MVP of the league back in 2004. Another famous name was Andrew Wiggins, the 2015 Rookie of the Year, who was born and raised in Ontario.

Also present was Karl Anthony-Towns, the first pick of the 2015 NBA draft and Zach Lavine, the winner of last year’s dunk contest.

The team ran through basic drills and fitness on the same court where, not less than three hours previously, Carleton students played basketball during open recreation. Many gym-goers were surprised to finish their workout and see NBA stars shooting around on their way out.

The young Wolves have gone 1-3 in the pre-season thus far, winning their first game in Ottawa. This visit was due to the “NBA Canada Series,” where four NBA teams play five games in various locations in Canada. The NBA regular season begins on Oct. 27.
