The Charlatan 2019-2020 editor-in-chief elections

Charlatan Publications Inc. will be hiring an editor-in-chief for the 2019-20 publication year. In accordance with the corporation’s bylaws, the editor-in-chief’s powers and duties include, but are not limited to:  Serving as office manager and maintaining a presence in The Charlatan office; Ultimately being responsible to the regular contributors for the content and editorial policy of The Charlatan and any other forms of publication; Serving as public face of the editorial staff to the community; Reviewing and signing off on all pages of The Charlatan before they are sent out for publication; Responding to any complaints and accusations leveled at The Charlatan, or any form of publication, in a prompt fashion; Submitting an end-of-year report to the Board and regular contributors by the last weekday in April;  Assisting the treasurer with the monitoring of the finances;  Acting as a signing authority.

Qualified candidates will give speeches on Sunday, March 10 starting at 3 p.m. unless otherwise announced in The Charlatan office and answer questions. Voting will occur from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 11-14 in the Ombuds Office (511 Unicentre). Results will be announced on March 15 at a TBA time. in The Charlatan office.

Should a run-off election be necessary, candidates will be given the option of making another short speech at that time. If there is a tie a game of chance will be held. Qualified voters for this position must have at least four contributions to the paper, including one in the current term by the time of the speeches, or be a member of the current editorial staff. A contribution is given for every story written, picture taken, graphically drawn and page copy-edited.
