In his first season as a Raven, Bitar played in 15 games while recording 16 goals and two assists to end up with 18 total points.

Bitar ended the season atop the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) leaderboard in goals and was second in total points tallied. Bitar also recorded six game winning goals to finish his first season as a Raven strongly.

Francois Brassard

Brassard played in 23 games in which he put up a 2.87 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. The Ravens were able to return to the OUA playoffs in part due to the stellar netminding of Brassard. He put together a win percentage of .545, winning 12 of 22 games started.

Zac Zanussi

Fencing

In his fifth year at Carleton, fencer Zanussi brought home the school’s first individual epée gold medal since 1985 at the OUA championships. Zanussi was also named an OUA all-star during the competition.

The OUA championships saw the Ravens bring home third place in large part due to Zanussi’s strong showing.

Catherine Traer

Women’s basketball

Traer is a forward who just wrapped up her final season as a member of the Carleton Ravens women’s basketball team.

This year, Traer played in 21 games while playing an average of 25 minutes per game and recording 10.4 points per game.

Moustafa Kamel

Swimming

The second year swimmer won Carleton’s first divisional swimming title in 12 years this season as well as helping the Carleton swim team bring home twelfth place at the OUA championships.

Kamel’s divisional win came in the men’s 200-m freestyle event, where he topped his personal best by almost four seconds and came within two seconds of the Carleton record.

Katelyn Steele

Women’s hockey

A familiar face in net for the Ravens, Steele has just finished up her fourth year with the Ravens team. She started 17 games for the team this season, backstopping the team in all but three of their games this season.

Logging over 1,000 minutes of game time, and facing 492 shots, the Ravens goalie saw her fair share of work. Putting up a strong .911 save percentage and a 2.86 goals against average, Steele was a steady presence in the crease.

Emily Copeland Dinan

Women’s soccer

A forward for the Ravens soccer team who started off the 2017 campaign with an impressive hat-trick against the former OUA champions from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Copeland Dinan remained a consistent contributor for the Ravens, starting in all 16 games of the season.

She put up a strong .917 shots on goal percentage and was also named a second-team OUA all-star.

Marcus Anderson

Men’s basketball

Anderson finished up his third season this year as a guard on the Ravens men’s basketball team.

At the end of this year, Anderson was named the U Sports Defensive Player of the Year for the first time since Thomas Scrubb last won it in 2014-15. Anderson was also named the OUA Defensive Player of the Year.

Zoë Williams
