Fashion and Ottawa don’t usually go hand in hand, but designers at Ottawa Fashion Week proved otherwise, at the event held March 18-20 at the National Art Gallery.

Sixteen Canadians and one Argentinean showed their Fall/Winter 2011 collections over the course of the weekend.

Christine Achampong, the event's spokesperson, said Fashion Week was organized by 10 executives and 30 interns. “We started planning as soon as the last one was over, which was too late,” Achampong said.

This was Ottawa’s third Fashion Week and first Fall/Winter collections show (the other two were Spring/Summer). “The first year people were like, ‘What, Ottawa Fashion Week?’ Now, it’s a legitimate fashion show,” said designer Yolande Deschenes.

When Achampong was asked if she was on board for Ottawa Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012, she said, “Of course. We will start planning tomorrow.”

Adrian Wu said his collection was inspired by Freud's theory of sexuality and described his designs as "phallic."

My favourite look by Anomal. It's something to do with the brocade pants. Anna Dello Russo, Nippon Vogue editor, wore a brocade suit earlier this year and I just loved it too.

Designer of Nu, Vickie Joseph created sassy looks for the city girl.
