Name: Sarah McCue
Program/year: Political science and women’s and gender studies, third year
Position running for: Public affairs councillor
1. Why are you running for CUSA council?
I have been shocked and appalled by the past year at CUSA and have had these concerns echoed by my fellow students. We need to unite as a campus community to take back our students’ association from petty politics and start serving students the way we should.
2. What do you think makes you a good candidate?
I have represented students’ needs from different communities since arriving on campus. Through my role on the rowing team, sitting as a student representative on my faculty board and in my position as food centre co-ordinator.
3. What are two things you hope to achieve if elected?
One: work with the department to get all public affairs students books available at Haven Books. We should be able to access our academic material without breaking the bank.
Two: Invest in our service centres so that public affairs students can gain enriching volunteer experiences and be proud of our student union.
4. What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I carry around my life with me in my backpack; I’m always prepared!
