Carleton’s varsity swim team dominated at the deBray Division Championships held at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont. from Nov. 28 to Nov. 29.

Head coach Lynn Marshall praised standout performances from Courtney Buchanan and rookie Mohamed Aly.

“Courtney swam three of four lifetime bests, including an enormous three second drop from last meet in 100-metre,” Marshall said. “Mohamed swam four of four lifetime bests, improved his ranking in every event, and moved well up on the all-time Carleton Top 20 list,” she added.

The entire team excelled and together produced 15 lifetime bests.

Buchanan, Aly, and teammate Lee Gour all improved their rankings on the all-time Carleton Top 20 list, while Tristan Ogilvie, the team’s most veteran athlete, had several breakout swims. Ogilvie achieved four lifetime bests, and the first sub one-minute 100-metre freestyle of his career.

The swimmers return to training this week in preparation for the Ontario University Athletics Championships—just 10 weeks away—where they will strive to continue excelling as a team.
