The newly revived Carleton Ravens football team will be hiring a manager of football operations in the coming weeks, according to Bob Rumscheidt, Carleton’s manager of interuniversity sport programs.
The manager of football operations will be responsible for “developing a support structure, a long term plan, fundraising, marketing and operations of the Ravens Football Program,” according to the job posting.
The individual will also be “involved in facility development, staffing, event management, day-to-day operations of the program,” as well as managing the budget and expenses of the football team.
While the application deadline closed Aug. 26, Rumscheidt said the applications have to pass through Carleton’s human resources department before the athletics department can make a decision.
“We’re not two days away from making a decision, but not three weeks away either,” he said.
Hiring the football operations manager was the top priority for the football team, said Old Crows Football Inc. president Kevin McKerrow, following the July 6 announcement of the team’s return.
McKerrow also stated at that time that the next step for the team will be to hire a coach, but they cannot start the formal competition for the position until after the upcoming Canadian Interuniversity Sport football season, which will wrap up after the Vanier Cup Nov. 25.
Five million dollars has been secured for the team, which will be fully funded by Old Crows Football, Inc.
Ravens football will return to the gridiron in 2013.
