Hashem Hamdy, a third-year political science student who is running for re-election as Faculty of Public Affairs councillor, describes himself as a moderating influence on the “cliquish” feel that he said plagues CUSA.
Students don't really know their councillors, he said. To rectify this he said he plans to organize a monthly meet and greet with all the faculty councillors so students can connect with those representing them.
Last year, Hamdy held weekly office hours and said he was impressed that people would regularly show up to talk about issues.
"If you're not happy with how things are, then it's your responsibility to change it," he said.
