The petition asking for a referendum on Carleton undergraduate students’ membership in the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) has been signed, sealed, and will be delivered Oct. 29.
Organized by fourth-year journalism student Dean Tester, the petition has the signatures of 2,374 students, meeting the requirement of more than 10 per cent of the voting members of CUSA.
The petition must be acknowledged by the national branch of the CFS in order for a referendum to be held in March.
The petition’s organizers accuse the CFS of charging membership fees to support campaigns and services that do not effectively lobby student interests.
