Paroma Ray, “Students First” candidate for vice-president (student services), said she wants to see an increase in the funding and awareness for the nine student centres.
“The sky is the limit,” Ray said, indicating that better funded service centres will be better equipped to serve Carleton students.

She said she also wants to increase exposure during Frosh Week in hopes that students will become aware of what is available to them and take advantage of these services.

Ray said she also wants to see the creation of a survivor-led sexual assault centre on campus. “It’s important that students feel they have somewhere to turn,” she said, adding that the current services offered fall short.

“I can say without hesitation that there is something for everyone on the Carleton campus and I would strongly encourage Carleton students to take advantage of everything Carleton has to offer,” Ray said.

Her broad student involvement, which includes being a Carleton convocation and showcase performer, Carleton Academic Student Government vice-president (internal), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences student senator, and a frosh orientation facilitator for her past two years, makes her an excellent candidate for the job, said the third-year music student.

“This is what I’m about. I’m dedicated, I’m hardworking, I’m ambitious, I’m all about serving students,” Ray said.
