The Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced earlier this week that the annual Panda Game between the Carleton Ravens and the University of Ottawa (U of O) Gee-Gees will be among four football games to be nationally broadcast this season.

The announcement, which was made on Aug. 31, said that Carleton and U of O will “battle for football supremacy in the nation’s capital.”

“The Panda Game is one of the signature events on the CIS football calendar,” Alan Hudes, CIS communications co-ordinator, said in an email.

“Over the last two years at TD Place, the rivalry between the Ravens and Gee-Gees football teams has grown,” he said, and cited the soaring attendance in recent years

“I think it’s awesome for CIS football in general,” Ravens quarterback Jesse Mills said. “[Panda Game is] such an awesome game to have and to have that nationally broadcast is awesome.”

While the broadcast will bring extra attention to the game, the Carleton pivot said Panda Game will be like any other game.

The Ravens will take on the Gee-Gees on Oct. 1 at TD Place, and can be viewed across Canada on City.
