A suspicious package left at an arena near Bayview station has caused OC Transpo to shut down O-Train operation and divert buses off the transitway, according to a press release by Ottawa Police.

Tom Brown Arena was evacuated earlier today after a caller informed police at 2 p.m. of a package found at the arena containing explosives.

Ottawa Police is continuing to investigate the matter as the contents of the package have still not been verified, according to the release.

The scare caused road closures at nearby Scott Street in the east direction at Bayswater Avenue, and in the west direction at Preston Street.

OC Transpo, who could not be reached for comment, has shut down O-Train services in the area and has detoured buses between Tunney’s Pasture and LeBreton Station to account for the road closures.

An “O-Bus” has been temporarily put into effect due to O-Train cancellations, according to an OC Transpo announcement on Twitter.
