The Charlatan spoke to Wil Mcintyre about his top moment this season in a new segment about student-athletes’ favourite plays.

Wil McIntyre, outfielder, baseball:

The one thing that stands out, we were playing McGill in the first round of the playoffs, so if we won that game, we went to nationals.

It was game one, and pretty much whoever wins game one is set, beacuse you only have to win one of the next two in a best-of-three series, so it’s an important game. It sets the tone for the playoffs.

We were losing by one run going into the fourth inning, and I remember being in the outfield and as I ran out to play some defence I thought to myself, “Wil, this is it. Either next at-bat you make something happen, or you guys aren’t going to win, and you’re probably not going to go to nationals.”

Sure enough, in the top of the inning Evan Hammond got a walk and went to first base and I hit a triple over the centre-fielder’s head to cash in Evan and tie the game. Then somebody hit a dinky ground ball to cash me in.

Then in the top of the seventh, I hit a home run to get us up by two and we ended up winning that game.

That was my favourite moment I’d say.
